Ebenezer Event Team

Fellowship according to the Webster dictionary is described as a group or relationship of people who share similar feelings or interests. This is true for the members of Ebenezer Ministries as well as the community. Every year excitement builds toward each event for all to enjoy however, it takes a great deal of preparation to make each occasion a memorable one.

There’s something about a vision seen through the eyes of Bishop Knox that brings joy and laughter to fruition and that’s exactly what happened December of 2011 and by January 1st 2012 an Event Team was confirmed and blessed by Bishop Knox.  The Event Team began with 12 members and as seasons change so did the team. Now with nine faithful members Katrena Epps, Mary Housley, Deadra Smith, Tiffany Davison, Deacon Kendal Reddric, Vern Brown, Lonnie McNeal, Melvin Sparks and Deacon in training Marcus Montgomery; the preparation of ideas for an event can come from the congregation, the team even Bishop Knox. Planning any type of event is key. The team focuses on the 4 W’s (where, when, what, why) and of course the how, making sure that each event is pleasing to God, also amazing to Ebenezer and the community.

Guided by the lovely Sis. Katrena Epps and under the leadership of Bishop Knox, the team is driven by its  purpose which is to bring fun and exciting events that will give God the Glory, uplift the congregation, and help to encourage the community; Planning events outside of the church is important, paralleling the church vision: God 1st, Family 2nd, and Community 3rd. The Event Team makes it possible to keep each event a family affair and welcomes the community the majority of the time. Keeping their focus on their mission derived from 1st Corinthians 14:40 “Let all things be done decently and in order.”

The relationship of the team is bonded by the commitment of prayer and serving God which continues in each meeting and by the leadership of Bishop Knox. They enjoy fellowshipping through laughter, respect for one another and most importantly the joy and love of FOOD! If there is one thing that everyone should know about the Event Team is that the rewards are not material for this ministry. Sis. Epps explains, “The rewards come from the smiles, the kind words and especially the heartfelt thank-you from the church family, this is what brings gladness and the feeling of goodness inside and out to the team”.

This team helps and orchestrates what we don’t see behind the scenes and there is so much that is dedicated into each event from the beginning to the end of the year. The Event Team explains, “We are only as good as the support we received from our Bishop, our ministries leaders, and volunteers from the congregation.  In support of Bishop Knox, we love bringing events that are exciting and make the team reach for the next level to provide new and exciting things to do and places to go. We love you; our Ebenezer Church family with that being said… get ready, get ready, for super fantastic, exciting, joy filled God lead events in 2016!”

The Ebenezer family would like to continue to extend a thank you for the many events and special occasions the Event Team has put together for our enjoyment and know that we are grateful for the continuing efforts and hard work that goes into each occasion.

The team is always looking for volunteers and ideas from the congregation. If you would like to join this blessed ministry see one of the members for more information.
