Summer Gospel Celebration

Rain and clouds could not stop the praise and worship of the 2015 Gospel Under the Sun (GUS) celebration at Ebenezer Ministries in Burton, MI. The community from all around gathered inside the sanctuary to hear gospel solo and groups sing songs of Zion as the excitement of hands clapping and high stepping filled the church atmosphere as the music could be heard from outside the building. The event team was courteous and on hand helping with the flow of the concert. As the pews filled up throughout the day, you can see the Holy Spirit enter into the sanctuary as Minister Yvonne Lewis brought forth the power of her song from within and ministered. Many Christian groups also performed including Albert Strickland and Cho’Zen and Ebenezer Inspirational Voices brought in their great joyful noise.

Of course, GUS did not lack in reserving A-list gospel celebrities on the program. Multi-grammy winner and nominee and former vocalist of the Sounds of Blackness, Ann Nesby walked on stage with her famed song “I Believe” and had everyone on their feet participating in the ministry. Karen Clark-Sheard also a multi-grammy winner did not disappoint and brought sunshine to the somewhat cloudy day. Vendors were also on hand with treats, refreshments and other trinkets to cater to the crowd. As always, the production of GUS by Bro. Vernon Brown who was the mc of the program delighted the crowd with fun filled comedy and giveaways.

The prayer breakfast and brunch was an awesome experience as well.  Guest speaker Rev. Omarosa was inspirational as she preached about Jesus feeding the multitude [John 6:1-13]. Let’s not forget Chef Huda, her team and the Ebenezer culinary ministry, as they prepared a fabulous, delicious and healthy meal as she educated the members and guests on how eating healthy doesn’t have to be like eating a piece of bark from a tree. Chef Huda menu included a mix of salt and pepper grits, roasted potatoes with a melody of peppers, turkey sausage, roasted skinless boneless chicken and light scrambled eggs with parsley and garlic. She also added a mixed fruit salad with light and healthy refreshments such as mint and cucumber water which was quite a hit.

As the concert drew to a spirit-filled end, dusk set upon Ebenezer Ministries and the fellowship was greatly acknowledged. We are looking forward to what exciting musical groups Gospel Under The Sun will have in store for the community next year.
